The Point Isn’t to be a Good Photographer, But to Enjoy Life

For a long time I wanted to be a “good” photographer. More so, I wanted to become a famous photographer. I wanted to be “respected”, I wanted to get lots of likes and comments on my photos, and to be appreciated in my photography. But I realized, the point isn’t to be a good photographer; the point is to enjoy your life. After all, why do we take photos in the first place anyways? We take photos because we enjoy it. We take photos because we enjoy the creative process, we take photos because it helps us connect to other people, photography helps us build a sense of community. If you’re not enjoying the photography process, you’re doing something wrong.   Dreaming...

The Simple Things

The end of a long weekend. I used to travel on weekends like this. I would go to Galway or Dingle. Now, I prefer to stay nearer home. Funny that. I’m not sure I enjoy staying close. I stayed in a B&B Saturday night just to feel like I was doing something. Just to feel like I was getting away. I’m not sure it worked. I’m not sure it made me feel better to be away. I am learning to appreciate the simple things. I didn’t bother to take a camera with me on my trips. Just my phone. “Not going to take many photos anyway.” At least that is what I told myself. Not sure why I decided to start taking them in the morning on the way home....
